The 2026/27 season in short
Eighteen clubs. 306 matches. Each team plays 34 games, home and away against every other side, and you've got football from early September right through to the end of May. Medeama SC start as the defending champions after taking the title last season.
Three clubs are new to the top flight this time: Debibi United, FC AshantiGold 04 and Port City FC. Promoted teams don't usually get an easy first year. You'll see it by March, when the bottom of the table gets tight and nobody's safe. At the end of the season the clubs at the bottom go down to Division One, and the live table shows who is in the drop zone.
Kumasi, Accra and everywhere else
Two clubs pull most of the country with them. Asante Kotoko, the Porcupine Warriors, play at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and hold more league titles than anyone else. Hearts of Oak, the Phobians, are based at the Accra Sports Stadium. When those two meet, the whole country picks a side, offices go quiet, the trotro radio is turned up, and it really doesn't matter where either club is sitting in the table that week. Nobody cares. It's Kotoko and Hearts.
But we're not a two-club league, whatever your uncle says. A few others you'll want to know:
- Medeama SC from Tarkwa, the champions, built on a mining town crowd that turns up every week.
- Berekum Chelsea and Bechem United, two Bono and Ahafo region sides that have a habit of ruining big clubs' afternoons.
- FC Samartex 1996, champions in 2023/24, and Bibiani Gold Stars from the Western North.
- Vision FC and Young Apostles, younger names that keep the middle of the table busy.
Grounds outside Kumasi and Accra are often small, with the crowd almost on the touchline, and a visiting side that turns up expecting a quiet afternoon in Berekum or Bechem usually finds out within ten minutes how wrong it was. Away points are never cheap.
Ghana time, every month of the year
Ghana runs on GMT (UTC+0) and never changes its clocks. Every league game is played here at home, so whatever time you read is when the referee blows. Easy.
It only matters when you're comparing with England. From late October to late March, London and Accra share the same clock. From late March to late October the UK is one hour ahead, so a match listed there at 3pm starts at 2pm for you. Friends in Toronto or New York are four or five hours behind us, depending on the season.
A few things to know about this page
Why does a game sometimes show without a kick-off time? Because the GFA hasn't fixed it yet. Often it's waiting on TV picks or a CAF trip for one of the clubs. Check back a couple of days before the weekend and it'll be there.
Where did yesterday's game go? Nowhere. It's still there. Results from the past three days stay in the list with the final score, then they roll off.
How far ahead can I see? Ten days from today. The window moves forward on its own every morning, so save this page in your browser. A screenshot you took on Monday won't help you on Saturday.
Ghana Premier League games on Gamting
When a matchday is open for bets, it appears in the football section of our sportsbook under Ghana, with stakes and returns in cedis. You fund your account with USDT (TRC20) or USDC (Polygon), and it shows as GH₵. A GH₵12 welcome bonus is added automatically with your first deposit, no code needed. 18+, T&Cs apply. Current offers are on the Ghana promotions page, and our guide to football betting in Ghana walks through the usual markets.
Bet only what you're fine losing, and don't let a Kotoko or Hearts result decide your mood for the week. The responsible gambling page shows the limits you can set.
