Bangladesh vs West Indies Test Series 2026: Schedule, Squads, Times

West Indies are in Bangladesh for a two-Test series from 28 October to 9 November 2026. The 1st Test is at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, and the 2nd Test moves to Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from 5 November. Both Tests start at 10:00 AM Bangladesh time, which is 9:30 AM in India. There aren't any ODIs or T20Is on this trip, so you're getting Test cricket only.

Below you'll find every day of play with start times, both 15-man squads, a quick look at the two venues and how the series feeds into the World Test Championship table. We've checked the dates and squads against the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Cricket West Indies announcements as reported by ICC, Wisden and UNB.

Bangladesh runs on UTC+6 all year, so the 10:00 AM start won't move. If you're watching the clock from India, you're 30 minutes behind. The UK switched to GMT on 25 October, which makes the first ball 4:00 AM in London, an hour earlier than some previews printed before the clocks changed. Fans in Trinidad, Barbados or Guyana will be up at midnight for each day's start.

Day-by-day start times

There are three rest days between the Tests (2, 3 and 4 November) while the teams travel from Dhaka to Sylhet. If a Test finishes early, you can ignore the days that are left.

The BCB hasn't published session break times yet, so we've left them out rather than guess. They'll usually follow the standard Test day of three sessions, and bad light in Sylhet in November can end play a little before the scheduled close.

Bangladesh squad for the 1st Test

The BCB named 15 players on 23 October. Najmul Hossain Shanto captains the side and Mehidy Hasan Miraz is vice-captain. Taskin Ahmed is back after being rested for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, and Litton Das returns after a hip injury. The selectors have gone with three specialist spinners and four seamers.

RolePlayers
BattersNajmul Hossain Shanto (c), Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy
WicketkeepersLitton Das, Jaker Ali Anik
SpinMehidy Hasan Miraz (vc), Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan
PaceTaskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam

It's a squad for the opener only. The BCB can change it before Sylhet, and we'll update this page if it does.

West Indies Test squad

Roston Chase leads West Indies, with left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican as his deputy. Shai Hope has been rested with the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier in mind, and Alzarri Joseph was withdrawn to manage his workload. Keemo Paul was first named as Joseph's replacement but went home for personal and family reasons, so Barbados all-rounder Shamar Springer came in. Springer has played 3 ODIs and 12 T20Is but hasn't played a Test yet. Batter Kevin Wickham also has his first call-up.

RolePlayers
BattersJohn Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Brandon King, Kavem Hodge, Kevin Wickham
WicketkeepersJoshua Da Silva, Amir Jangoo
All-roundersRoston Chase (c), Justin Greaves, Shamar Springer

The tourists got used to conditions with a three-day warm-up from 22 to 24 October before moving to Mirpur.

The two grounds

Mirpur, 1st Test

Sher-e-Bangla in Mirpur is Bangladesh's main home ground and the BCB's headquarters venue. Its pitches have a reputation for slowing down and turning as a Test goes on, which helps explain why the selectors kept three specialist spinners in Taijul, Mehidy and Nayeem.

Sylhet, 2nd Test

Sylhet International Cricket Stadium sits among the tea gardens in the north-east of the country and has hosted far fewer Tests than Mirpur. The 2nd Test is scheduled for the same 10:00 AM start. If the BCB changes that for weather or light, we'll update the tables above.

Why this series matters in the World Test Championship

Both Tests count towards the 2025-27 World Test Championship. ICC says they are the final two fixtures of the West Indies' cycle, and head coach Daren Sammy has said he wants the team in the top half of the table. The table's ranked by the percentage of available points a team has won, so whatever happens here, it'll move both sides.

Each Test is worth 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie and 4 for a draw. With two Tests, 24 points are on offer for each team. Here's how we'd share them out for each possible series result:

Series resultWinner of more TestsOther team
2-024 points (100%)0 points (0%)
1-0 with one draw16 points (66.7%)4 points (16.7%)
1-112 points each (50%)12 points each (50%)
0-0, two draws8 points each (33.3%)8 points each (33.3%)

Slow over rates can cost points too, so a side that wins both Tests can still end up below 24 if it doesn't keep up with the clock. Don't be surprised by small deductions in the ICC table afterwards.

Recent history between the two sides

The last time West Indies toured Bangladesh for Tests, in early 2021, they won the series 2-0 with a squad missing several senior players. When Bangladesh went to the Caribbean in late 2024, the two-Test series finished 1-1. So the home side will be keen to reverse the 2021 result, while West Indies are chasing a second straight Test series win in Bangladesh.
