BBL 2026-27 Schedule in India and Bangladesh Time (IST & BST)
The Big Bash League 2026-27 (BBL|16) runs from Saturday 12 December 2026 to Tuesday 26 January 2027. Most schedules you'll find online list start times in Australian time, and that gets confusing fast if you're following from India or Bangladesh. This guide converts every league match into India Standard Time (IST) and Bangladesh Standard Time (BST), so you can see at a glance which games fit your afternoon and which ones you'll catch over breakfast.
The short version: most BBL|16 night games start at 1:45 PM IST / 2:15 PM BST, a handful of Perth and Brisbane games start later in the afternoon, and the weekend day games start in the morning.
BBL|16 at a glance
- Dates: 12 December 2026 to 26 January 2027
- Matches: 44 in total, made up of 40 league games and 4 finals
- Teams: 8 (Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder)
- Opening match: Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, the first BBL match ever played outside Australia
- Final: Tuesday 26 January 2027 (Australia Day), with a reserve day
Why the season opens in Chennai
If you're in India, this is the big one. The opener between the Melbourne Renegades and the Perth Scorchers is being played at Chepauk in Chennai on 12 December, and then the league heads back to Australia for the rest of the season. The match starts at 2:40 PM IST (3:10 PM BST) and counts as a Renegades home game. It was announced in July 2026 at the MCG with the Prime Ministers of Australia and India in attendance, and for now it is a one-off fixture rather than a permanent arrangement. Tickets are sold online only, through the District app.

We've converted every time below from the local start time at each ground, so you don't have to. Australian states use different time zones in summer (Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart are on daylight time; Brisbane and Perth are not; Adelaide is half an hour behind Sydney), which is why the same "7:15 PM" start doesn't always land at the same time for you.

Best BBL games for viewers in India and Bangladesh
Afternoon games (most of the season)
Most of your BBL watching will happen after lunch. Night games at the SCG, MCG, Manuka Oval, Bellerive Oval and the Sydney Showground start at 7:15 PM Australian daylight time, which is 1:45 PM IST and 2:15 PM BST. Adelaide night games (6:45 PM local) land at exactly the same time.
Late-afternoon games
Brisbane night games at 7:15 PM local start at 2:45 PM IST / 3:15 PM BST, and Perth's 6:15 PM starts are the latest of the season for South Asian viewers at 3:45 PM IST / 4:15 PM BST.
Morning games
Set an alarm for these ones. A few weekend day games start early: Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers on 10 January (8:40 AM IST) and Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers on 17 January (8:10 AM IST). The New Year's Day game between the Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers starts at 10:30 AM IST / 11:00 AM BST.
The big rivalry nights
- Sydney Smash: Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers: 19 December (Showground) and 15 January (SCG)
- Melbourne Derby: Melbourne Stars vs Melbourne Renegades: 4 January and 16 January, both at the MCG
- Boxing Day double-header: Sixers vs Heat at the SCG and Scorchers vs Stars in Perth on 26 December
How the BBL format works
It's simple once you've seen it once. Each of the eight teams plays ten league games. The top four go through to a finals series that gives the top two sides a second chance: the winner of the Qualifier goes straight to the Final, while the loser gets another shot in the Challenger against the winner of the Knockout. That's why finishing in the top two matters so much in the last week of the league.
