Wimbledon scheduling and grass-court betting angles

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam played on grass. The surface is faster than clay or hard, favoring big servers, players who can finish points at the net, and players with strong returns of serve. Grass also degrades through the two weeks of the tournament — by the second week, the baselines become worn while the area outside the court remains green.

Day-1 of Wimbledon traditionally features the defending men's champion on Centre Court. Schedule decisions follow ATP/WTA rankings for the top seeds; lower seeds and qualifiers are scheduled to fit available slots. For betting, the first three days have higher upset rates because seeded players are still adjusting to grass after the French Open's clay-court swing.

The "Manic Monday" middle-Monday round of 16 features all 16 men's and women's singles fourth-round matches on the same day — unique to Wimbledon. Eight matches on the main four courts, schedule packed tight, in-play markets shift rapidly. Single-day accumulators on Manic Monday are higher-variance than other Slam scheduling.
