Football betting in Zambia: Premier League, Chipolopolo and the Super League
Football betting in Zambia comes down to three competitions. There's the English Premier League every weekend, Chipolopolo whenever a FIFA window opens, and the Zambia Super League in between. On Gamting all three sit in the sportsbook, priced against one kwacha balance, with every kick-off shown in CAT. This page goes through each one the way a fan in Kitwe or Lusaka actually follows it. You must be 18 or older to bet.
Premier League Saturdays on Zambian time
England put its clocks back on Sunday 25 October 2026. Zambia doesn't touch its clocks, so for the rest of the European winter the classic 3pm Saturday slot in England reads 5pm here. The 12:30 early game shows as 2:30pm CAT and the 5:30 evening game as 7:30pm CAT. When England moves forward again at the end of March, each of those lands one hour earlier for us until the following October.
Why bother? Because you'll miss a game if you build Friday's slip from memory. We've all done it. Read the time printed beside each fixture, not the one you had in your head last month. Sunday and Monday matches follow the same shift.
Football markets in plain words
- Match result (1X2): home, draw or away, settled on the score at the final whistle including stoppage time. Extra time and penalties don't count for this one.
- Double chance: two of the three outcomes in one bet, for example Arsenal or the draw. Lower price, wider cover.
- Over/under goals: choose a line like 2.5 and say whether the total ends above or below it.
- Both teams to score: a simple yes or no. A 1-1 draw wins the yes, a 3-0 doesn't.
- Handicap: one side starts a goal up or down on paper, which turns a mismatch at Anfield into a closer price.
- Goalscorer markets: anytime or first scorer, when they're offered for that game.
Most Zambian supporters carry a club in England, usually Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool. Betting on your own team is fine, but you've got to be honest with yourself about it. Loyalty is a feeling, not a reading of the match.
Chipolopolo and the weight of 2012
On 12 February 2012 Zambia won the Africa Cup of Nations. The final against Ivory Coast went to penalties, Stoppila Sunzu scored the decisive kick, and Hervé Renard's squad lifted the cup in Gabon, the same country where the 1993 team's plane went down. Ask anyone in Mansa or Mongu where they watched it and they'll tell you the bar, the street and who cried first.
National team football isn't club football. Players fly in from clubs at home and abroad a few days before each window, the squad changes from one camp to the next, and a qualifying group can turn on a single away point in somebody else's heat.
Three questions before a Chipolopolo bet
- Where is it played? Home games usually go to the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka or the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Away trips across the continent are a separate puzzle.
- Who actually reported to camp? The named squad and the team that walks out aren't always the same. Wait for the confirmed list if you can.
- What does each side need? A team already through may rest players. A side chasing a draw plays differently from one that has to win.
The Copper Queens deserve a mention too. Barbra Banda and the women's side play their own qualifiers and tournaments, and those matches show up in the sportsbook when a price is set.
Zambia Super League: where your local knowledge counts
Here's where you'll probably know more than the people setting the odds. You know Nkana and Power Dynamos split Kitwe, and that their derby ignores the league table. You know ZESCO United call Ndola home, alongside Forest Rangers, and that Red Arrows, Zanaco, Green Buffaloes and NAPSA Stars all come out of Lusaka. Nkana carry the longest list of league titles, which is exactly why every small club raises its game against them.
What changes a Super League result
- The road: a long bus ride from the Copperbelt down to Southern Province, or across to North-Western, takes something out of the legs.
- The rain: from about November the wet season arrives, some pitches get heavy, and the ball stops running. On a bad surface, goals can dry up.
- The calendar: rounds get moved around CAF club competitions and international breaks, so check the date on the slip, not just the teams.
- Team news: club pages and local radio usually know about injuries before anyone else does.
You'll get a shorter menu on a Super League game than on a Premier League one. Match result, goal lines and both teams to score are the core. Player specials are rare at this level, and that's normal.
Champions League nights and the other big leagues
For most of us, European club football is what gives the midweek its shape. Champions League evening ties start at 10pm CAT while Europe is on winter time, and at 9pm CAT once it switches to summer time. The earlier slot moves between 7:45pm and 6:45pm CAT by the same logic. La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 run through the weekend as well, so a Sunday afternoon can start in Spain and finish in Italy.
Planning a football weekend without overdoing it
Here's a simple habit that works. Decide on Friday what the whole weekend is worth to you, say K100, and split it before the first match. If Saturday goes badly, Sunday doesn't get a bigger share to win it back. That one rule's kept a lot of us enjoying football.
Singles are easier to judge than long accumulators, since one wrong result doesn't sink the rest. If you do combine games, keep the list short and pick matches you've genuinely followed. The sports betting guide for Zambia explains multiples and live betting in more detail.
Putting kwacha on the account
Your balance is held in kwacha, but money arrives as USDT on TRON (TRC20) or USDC on Polygon. Each deposit is converted at the rate you see on screen before you confirm. If you've never sent stablecoins before, the USDT and USDC deposit walkthrough covers every step and the network mistakes to avoid. Withdrawals go back to a USDT or USDC wallet in your own name. Each request is reviewed, and you can follow its status in your history.
Offers on a Zambian account
New players get a K20 welcome bonus with the first deposit, and the first-deposit bonus lands on top, both credited automatically with nothing to type. Every day there's a Happy Hours window, in local time, that adds up to 5% on deposits made inside it. Bonus codes also appear on our Telegram channel each hour with a limited number of claims. If you catch one, make your deposit and then enter it in the bonus code box on your account dashboard within 15 minutes. All the conditions are on Zambia promotions.
