What Time Do Premier League Matches Kick Off in Ghana?
Right now Premier League matches kick off at exactly the same time in Ghana as in England, because the UK went back to GMT on 25 October 2026 and Ghana uses GMT all year. A 3:00 PM kick-off in England is 3:00 PM in Accra. That changes on Sunday 28 March 2027. The UK moves its clocks forward, and every match then starts an hour earlier for you, so a 3:00 PM game becomes 2:00 PM in Ghana.
Why is Premier League time the same as Ghana time in winter?
Ghana sits on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, UTC+0). It doesn't change its clocks at all. The UK uses GMT in winter and British Summer Time (BST, UTC+1) from late March to late October. So for roughly five months of the season the two countries share a clock, and for the rest England is one hour ahead.
That's why the kick-off times you saw in September looked an hour off from the official list. They weren't wrong. The clock gap was doing it.

You'll see the same handful of slots most weekends. We converted each one with a time zone library for a winter date (16 January 2027) and a spring date (10 April 2027), so you can see both sides of the clock change.

This weekend shows it well. Chelsea against Manchester United opens Saturday at half past twelve, five games share the 3:00 PM slot, and Liverpool against Arsenal is the Sunday game at 4:30 PM. Newcastle against Everton closes the round on Monday night at 8:00 PM, which is still Monday in Accra, unlike in Asia where it falls on Tuesday morning.
How do you work out a kick-off time yourself?
Here's the quick rule. We'll do one worked example too. Until 27 March 2027, take the UK time and use it as it is. From 28 March to the end of the season, take the UK time and subtract one hour.
Example: the Premier League lists a match for Saturday 3 April 2027 at 17:30 UK time. That date is after the clock change, so 17:30 minus one hour gives 16:30 in Ghana. If you had the same slot on 20 March 2027, it'd stay at 17:30. Simple.
Fixture lists from other countries are where we've seen people get caught out. A Nigerian list shows West Africa Time, which is one hour ahead of Ghana, and a Kenyan list shows East Africa Time, three hours ahead. So check which zone a list is written in before you set an alarm. It's a ten-second check.
When do the Black Stars play next?
Ghana's next fixtures are the 2027 AFCON qualifiers in the November international window, with Somalia the opponents and the Accra Sports Stadium named as the home venue. The GFA said in October that an interim technical team will take charge for this window while it looks for a permanent head coach. Fixture sites don't agree on the exact day yet, so we're treating the date and kick-off as TBC until the GFA confirms them on ghanafa.org.
