How Does USDT Sports Betting Work? Deposits, Fees and Risks

USDT sports betting means funding a sportsbook account with Tether (USDT), a stablecoin built to hold a value of about 1 US dollar, instead of a card or bank transfer. You send USDT from your wallet to the address the cashier gives you, your balance is credited once the network confirms the transfer, and you bet as normal. Withdrawals run the other way: you request one, it's reviewed, and once approved the coins are sent to your wallet.

On Gamting the cashier takes two coins: USDT on the TRON network (TRC20) and USDC on Polygon. Players in India can also pay with UPI. Here's how each part works, from the network choice to the payout.

What is USDT, and why do bettors use it?

USDT is a dollar stablecoin issued by Tether, a company that launched it in 2014. Each token is meant to be redeemable for 1 US dollar, backed by reserves Tether holds. That is the big difference from Bitcoin or Ether, whose price can swing a long way while a single match is being played.

A USDT sportsbook is simply a betting site whose cashier accepts Tether deposits and pays out in Tether. The odds and settlement rules don't change.

People pick USDT for practical reasons:

  • It works the same way in every market. Gamting serves 15 markets, and outside India crypto is the payment option in all of them, so the steps you learn once apply everywhere.
  • The value stays put. If you send 50 USDT before a match and withdraw after it, the coin you get back is worth roughly what it was when you sent it.
  • TRON is quick. Blocks arrive roughly 3 seconds apart, so most transfers clear within minutes.

One detail many guides skip: your Gamting balance is kept in your account currency, such as rupees, taka, pesos or naira. The payment page converts the USDT you send into that currency at the rate it shows, and the withdrawal form converts it back. So the dollar value of USDT stays steady, but the local-currency figure can move a little with the exchange rate.

Which USDT network should you use: TRC20, ERC20 or BEP20?

USDT isn't one coin on one chain. The same token is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum (ERC20), TRON (TRC20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) and Solana. Each version lives on its own network, and a deposit address only works on the network it was created for.

Gamting accepts USDT on TRC20 only, and USDC on Polygon only. ERC20, BEP20 and every other network are not credited automatically.

You can read the network from the address itself. TRON addresses are 34 characters long and open with an uppercase T. Polygon, Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain share the same 42-character 0x format, so those three get confused most. Rule of thumb: a T address means your wallet must be set to TRON or TRC20, and a 0x address for USDC means Polygon and nothing else.

How does a USDT deposit work, step by step?

  1. Log in (or register), go to Deposit and select crypto. Enter how much you want to add in your own currency. Limits for that currency appear right there.
  2. On the payment page that opens, select USDT with TRON (TRC20). You'll get a USDT figure to send and a T address, often with a QR code.
  3. In your wallet or exchange, pick USDT on TRON, paste or scan the address, and send precisely the USDT figure shown.
  4. Before sending, compare the opening and closing characters of both addresses. Save the TXID afterwards.
  5. Wait for the network to confirm. The money appears in your balance once the payment page has matched it.

Sending from an exchange such as Binance or OKX? Look for the line that says "amount received" or "you will receive". Some exchanges take their withdrawal fee out of the amount you type, so less arrives than the payment page asked for. That line has to match the payment page. The full walkthrough, with address examples and a fee table, is in our USDT TRC20 deposit guide, and the Polygon version is in the USDC on Polygon guide.

What fees will you pay, and how many confirmations does it take?

A deposit can involve up to three costs. Gamting's own share is zero.

  • Gamting deposit charge: 0%, with no fixed fee on crypto deposits.
  • Network fee: paid by whoever sends the coins. TRON charges it in TRX rather than USDT. Sending from a personal wallet that holds zero TRX can fail, so park a few TRX there too. On Polygon the fee is paid in POL.
  • Exchange fee: exchanges pay the network cost for you and bill a USDT fee instead, shown on their confirm screen.

Block times are short: around 3 seconds on TRON, around 2 on Polygon. Crediting waits for several confirmations, so expect a few minutes rather than seconds. When a deposit drags, it's usually still sitting in an exchange's queue. Still nothing after half an hour? Look the TXID up on Tronscan. If it shows as confirmed, sent to the right address for the right amount, raise a ticket in your account with those details.

Payouts are priced differently. In India a USDT payout costs INR 100, in the Philippines PHP 67, and in every other market nothing. USDC payouts cost nothing in any market. Separately, a 5% charge kicks in for the second and later payouts within a 24-hour window. Both are deducted from what you ask for, not added on top. Here's a quick example from Nigeria: a player who withdraws NGN 20,000 in USDT in the morning pays nothing extra. If they request another NGN 20,000 that evening, the second one carries NGN 1,000 (5%), so NGN 19,000 worth of USDT is sent.

How do USDT withdrawals work?

A withdrawal is a request, not a transfer you trigger yourself. The flow looks like this:

  1. Go to Withdraw, choose the coin and enter an amount in your own currency. Limits and any charge show up before you move on.
  2. Add the wallet address that will receive the coins (T address for USDT, 0x Polygon address for USDC), copied rather than typed.
  3. Confirm. The request shows as pending in your history, and you can still cancel it there.
  4. The request is reviewed. Once approved, the coins are sent to the address you gave, and the incoming transfer appears in your wallet with its TXID.

A few rules are worth knowing before you ask. Any bonus wagering has to be complete first. In Bangladesh, USDC on Polygon is the crypto payout option today. Indian players who've topped up with UPI as well as crypto may see a separate crypto payout limit. Turning USDT into rupees, taka or naira happens on your exchange afterwards, under that exchange's own rules and fees. Our crypto withdrawal guide covers each stage in more detail.

What are the risks of betting with USDT?

Wrong network. This is the most expensive mistake. USDT sent over ERC20 or BEP20 to a TRC20 address won't show up in your balance by itself, and there's no promise it can be recovered. Once confirmed, no one can reverse a crypto transfer.

Wrong address. The same goes for payouts. Coins land wherever the address says. Use a familiar wallet for your first payout, and test with a small amount after any wallet change.

The peg can slip. Stablecoins aim for 1 dollar, and most of the time they trade within a cent of it. They have slipped, though. USDT fell to about 95 cents on 12 May 2022 during the TerraUSD collapse, and USDC dropped to about 87 cents in March 2023 after Circle said $3.3 billion of its reserves were held at Silicon Valley Bank. Both returned to around 1 dollar within days. That's one reason not to treat a betting balance as savings.

Speed works both ways. Crypto makes it easy to top up again in the middle of a match. Decide on a budget in your own currency before you deposit, and stop when it's used. Only adults (18+) should bet. Our responsible gambling page covers limits and where to find help.

Which one suits you comes down to what your exchange supports. USDT on TRC20 is listed by most large exchanges. USDC on Polygon has no withdrawal method charge in any market, which makes it the cheaper payout route in India and the Philippines, but not every exchange offers USDC on the Polygon network, so check before you start.

What can you bet on once your USDT is credited?

The full Gamting sportsbook opens up, with cricket, football, tennis and more in pre-match and in-play markets. Cricket fans can read our guide to betting on cricket with crypto.
