The Women's Premier League auction for the 2027 season takes place on Wednesday 28 October 2026 in Kochi, at the Grand Hyatt, starting at 5:30 PM IST (6:00 PM in Bangladesh). Five franchises go in with very different budgets, and only 27 places are left to fill. Here's what each team has to spend, who's in the top base price brackets, and what the numbers tell you before the first bid.

Purse and open slots for every team
We've divided each team's remaining purse by the places it still has to fill. It's a quick way to see who can afford to chase the bigger names and who'll be shopping carefully.
| Team | Purse left | Open slots | Overseas slots | Purse per open slot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UP Warriorz | Rs 3.65 crore | 7 | 2 | Rs 52.1 lakh |
| Gujarat Giants | Rs 1.25 crore | 3 | 1 | Rs 41.7 lakh |
| Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Rs 1.15 crore | 5 | 2 | Rs 23.0 lakh |
| Delhi Capitals | Rs 1.10 crore | 5 | 1 | Rs 22.0 lakh |
| Mumbai Indians | Rs 1.00 crore | 7 | 1 | Rs 14.3 lakh |
UP Warriorz walk in with by far the biggest budget, and you'll see why that matters and the joint most places to fill. Gujarat Giants have only three spots left, so their Rs 1.25 crore works out at more than Rs 40 lakh per place. That's a lot of room for a team that's nearly complete. Mumbai Indians have seven places to fill with Rs 1 crore, so don't be surprised if most of their buys come from the lower base price brackets.
Players in the top base price brackets
Two overseas players set the highest base price of Rs 50 lakh: Sophia Dunkley of England and Sophie Molineux of Australia. Four more sit at Rs 40 lakh: G Kamalini, Kiran Navgire, Heather Graham and Jess Jonassen. Around 30 others have registered at Rs 30 lakh.
Keep the budgets in mind when you watch the bidding, because they put a hard ceiling on it. Only UP Warriorz, with Rs 3.65 crore, could spend more than Rs 1.25 crore on a single player and still fill their remaining places at base price.
How the WPL auction works
If you haven't followed a WPL auction before, it's simple. Each player enters at the base price they registered with, and teams raise the bid in steps until one bid is left standing. A team can only bid while its purse covers the bid and it still has an open place in its squad, and overseas players can only go to teams with an overseas place left. Players who go unsold in the first pass can be brought back later in the evening if teams still have money and places to fill.
After the auction
We'll add the full list of players sold, their prices and each team's final squad to this page once the auction ends on 28 October, so you can come back for the results. The 2027 season then runs from 14 January to 7 February, and our cricket exchange lists WPL matches once the fixtures are live. If you follow other leagues over the same window, our BBL 2026-27 schedule in India and Bangladesh time covers the Big Bash.
